Advances on the Inverdale Gene (FecX~I) in Sheep

The Inverdale gene (FecX~I), located on the X chromosome, is a major gene affecting the ovulation rate of sheep. The discovery, origin, endocrinology, industry use of the Inverdale gene and ovarian characteristics in Inverdale ewes were introduced in this paper. The perspectives of FecX~I gene were also discussed.
