Frequency of postprandial lipemia after a first acute coronary event (unstable angina pectoris or non-ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction) and the effects of atenolol on the lipemia.

2002
P lipemia (PPL) is an important atherogenic risk factor, and -adrenergic blockers have been reported to worsen fasting lipoprotein profiles. Previous studies have shown that PPL after a fatty meal is prolonged in patients with established coronary artery disease (CAD). An abnormal PPL is associated with progression of CAD and carotid artery disease. There have been no studies of PPL or the effects of atenolol on PPL in patients with a first acute coronary event. Such is the purpose of this study.
