Liviral combined with midodrine hydrochloride for the treatment of postmenopause female with incontinence
2010
Objective To investigate the efficacy and feasibility of liviral plus midodrine in postmenopause women with incontinence. Methods A randomized,double-blind,parallel,placebo-controlled study was carried out.One hundred and twenty postmenopause women with incontinence were involved in. Sixty cases in study group received liviral(2.5 mg/d) and midodrine (2.5 mg,thrice daily)for three months.Sixty cases in control group received placebo in the same way. Results One hundred and twenty cases completed the treatment. Incontinence improved in 22.6% of the women assigned to placebo compared with 56.1% assigned to liviral and midorine, while 33.8% of the placebo group worsened compared with 26.7% of the liviral and midorine group (P<0.01). This difference was evident by 4 weeks of treatment, but there was no obvious greater improvement for three months of treatment (P>0.05). Conclusions Liviral combined with midodrine hydrocholoride therapy is associated with improving urinary incontinence in older postmenopausal women with incontinence. We believe this therapy will be effective for the treatment of incontinence in postmenopause women.
