A portable coring device for use in the intertidal environment

Abstract The construction of a portable coring unit with a telescopic tube and stationary piston mounted on a tripod frame is described. Using the procedure outlined it is possible to core unconsolidated sediments (clay and sands) in intertidal environments with the minimum of disturbance, down to depths of 6 m.
