STUDY ON THE EXPELLING LEAD EFFECT OF N-GLUCOSE-L-CYSTEINE ON THE RATS.

2001
Objective:To evaluate the expelling lead effect of N glucose L cysteine(NGLC),a main effective component in a functional food, for the rats fed on high lead feed. Methods:Male SD rats were divided into 6 groups.i.e.normal control group, high lead model group,EDTA positive group,NGLC 50mg/kg.bw group,NGLC 100mg/kg.bw group and NGLC 200mg/kg.bw group. The feeds of every group contained 100 ppm lead, except the normal control group.Three days feces of the rats in the model group,EDTA group and NGLC 200mg/kg.bw group were collected at the end of the second week and the fourth week and their lead concentrations were detected. The rats were killed at the end of the fourth week and the seventh week respectively. The lead concentrations in their blood, kidneys, livers and thighbones were determined. Results:NGLC can significantly reduce the lead concentrations in blood, kidneys, livers and thighbones in the rats fed on high lead feed, with a good dose response relationship. However,no effect of NGLC on the feces lead excretion in the rats was found in this study. Conclusion:NGLC can increase lead excretion and reduce the lead accumulation in the rats with high levels lead intake.
