Anesthetic Management for Atrial Fibrillation Procedures in the Electrophysiology Lab
2021
Invasive procedures in the electrophysiology lab for managing and treating atrial fibrillation are evolving and increasing in number. Providing anesthesia in a remote location requires an understanding of the physical environment and availability of emergently needed resources. The anesthesia provider should also have knowledge of the procedure, including the critical portions for the electrophysiologist, and the many comorbidities found in this patient population. The complex patients and the limitations of the work environment warrant careful planning to maximize patient safety and improve procedural outcomes.
