Novel Raman spectra of metal surfaces

A series of very sharp bands at ca. 50 cm−1 have been observed in the low frequency surface Raman spectra of tungsten and nickel in air and in vacuum (10−5 torr) which probably originate in a surface layer of adsorbed molecules.
