Chromosome aberrations induced in human lymphocytes by X-irradiated in vitro: The effect of culture techniques and blood donors on aberration yield

1969
Abstract Quantitative relationships between chromosome aberration yields in peripheral blood lymphocytes following in vitro irradiation have been reported by a number of workers. A comparison of these data shows that considerable discrepancy exists between them and the object of this paper is to investigate some possible causes of this discrepancy. The effects of various techniques of culture, fixation and different donors on the aberration yield were tested. Results show that none of these variables had any significant effect on the aberration yield and consequently the cause of the discrepancy must be sought elsewhere. Scoring criteria may be important.
