9-Benzyl-3-bromo-9H-carbazole

The title compound, C19H14BrN, was synthesized by the N-alkyl­ation of (chloro­meth­yl)benzene with 3-bromo-9H-carbazole. The carbazole ring system is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.013 A) and forms a dihedral angle of 87.1 (2)° with the phenyl ring.
