Aplication of the Finite Element Method to Predict the Colors Obtained by Oxidation Laser Marking of AISI 304 Stainless Steel

2021
In recent years, conventional marking techniques in mechanical engineering and electronics have increasingly shifted from laser marking. The advantages offered by the new technology are higher positioning accuracy, processing speed, flexibility and a large volume of recorded information per unit area (bar and matrix codes). The study discusses and analyzes the influence of technological parameters influencing the process of laser color marking on AISI 304 stainless steel samples. For this purpose, a stimulation model of the ABAQUS program is used, which allows analyzing the surface temperature and in depth, as well as to connect the isotherms with the technological parameters, power density, processing speed and frequency of the laser pulses.
