Depresión y ansiedad en la esclerosis múltiple

2009
The aim of this study was to examine the relative contribution of clinical variables, subjective cognitive impairment and fati- gue to depression and anxiety in a sample of 35 multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Participants completed the Hospital Anxiety and Depre- sion Scale (HADS), the Multiple Sclerosis Neuropsychological Screening Questionnaire (MSNQ) and the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS). A total of 48,6% patients showed symptoms of anxiety, whilst 14% reported depression. Multiple regression analysis indicated that years since onset, MSNQ and FSS predict depression and anxiety. Years since onset was strongly associated with anxiety. Increased severity of anxiety symptoms was associated with low disease duration. These results highlight the importance of evaluate anxiety symptoms at early stage of MS.
