Estrutura industrial brasileira e de Santa Catarina: alguns indícios de desindustrialização

2013
ABSTRACT Part of the transformations in the Brazilian industrial structure carried out over the years1990 and 2000 is seen by some authors as belonging to a process of de-industrialization. This process is particularly characterized by loss of share of industrial output in GDP, the result of consolidation of productive chains and also by the expansion of less technology-intensive sectors in the industrial structure, negatively impacting the ability of this segment lead and boost economic growth. This study aimed to characterize the evolution of national industrial production and the state of Santa Catarina in the period 1996-2008 assessing the data on Gross Value of Industrial Production and Value of Industrial Transformation, both classified by technological intensity according with the OECD methodology. The main results indicate that both Brazil and Santa Catarina have strong dependence in terms of product generated from sectors of low and medium low technology. Furthermore, in spite of production have grown in absolute terms over this period, the percentage of value that is actually added at national and state levels have decreased, showing the loss of links in supply chains in Brazil and Santa Catarina. Key words: De-industrialization; industrial production and of transformation; technological intensity. Artigo recebido em abr. 2012
