The invention belongs to the technical field of manufacture of prepregs, and particularly relates to a colorless transparent epoxy resin for a prepreg and a method for preparing a composite material. The composition comprises 60-80 parts by mass of liquid epoxy resin, 20-40 parts by mass of solid epoxy resin, 30-80 parts by mass of anhydride curing agent, 0.5-2 parts by mass of accelerator and 0.1-1 part by mass of ultraviolet absorbent. According to the preparation method, an acetone solution or a hot melt adhesive solution of the composition is used for impregnating a reinforcing material to prepare a prepreg, and the composite material is formed by using the prepreg; the prepreg has moderate adhesivity and good manufacturability, and can be stored for one month under the normal temperature; the prepreg can be totally solidified at 135 DEG C in 2 hours, has short solidification period and low solidification temperature, is suitably used for preparing the composite material according to an autoclave method or compression molding method; and the composite material has good heat resistance, weatherability and good electrical properties. The resin cast provided by the invention is colorless and transparent, and has better heat resistance, and the colorless transparent epoxy resin composite provided by the invention can be used for pre-impregnating plant fibers to prepare green and environment-friendly prepregs.
