Single-crystal growth of (FeyNi1−y)S1-δ solid solution

Abstract Large single crystals of monosulfide solid solution, (Fe y Ni 1− y ) S 1 - δ (mss) NiAs-type, were obtained by the Bridgman technique. The lower parts of the grown ingots correspond to mss, and the second part relates to a mixture of decay products of heazlewoodite solid solution (Ni z Fe 1− z ) 3± δ S 2 (hzss). Variations of the structure and composition along the ingots were studied and discussed.
