Evaluation of a direct rapid immunohistochemical test (dRIT) as a diagnostic tool for rabies in animals

2013
A new diagnostic test, direct rapid immunohistochemical test (dRIT), for rabies was evaluated in different species of animals under field conditions. The test showed sensitivity & specificity equivalent to that of the traditional gold standard method, direct fluorescent antibody test (dFAT). The test was found to be cheaper and gave faster results suggesting high potential as a diagnostic tool for peripheral centers.
