Effect of wheat straw types on biological delignification and in vitro rumen degradability of wheat straws during treatment with Irpex lacteus
2020
Abstract Irpex lacteus was inoculated in eight different cultivars of wheat straw and incubated under solid-state conditions at 28 °C for 56 days to determine the effects of wheat straw types on the delignification and rumen degradability of wheat straw. The results showed that I. lacteus degraded 625 g/kg of lignin (sa) and increased 320 g/kg of neutral detergent soluble after 56 days of incubation on average. Corresponding to lignin degradation, the average in vitro dry matter digestibility and gas production of the treated wheat straw were improved by 21% and 32%, respectively, and the mean ratio of acetate and propionate decreased from 3.68 to 2.99. It is concluded that I. lacteus has broad adaptability to variations in wheat straw and its use is a promising means to improve their nutritional value.
