Energy dependence of the response of thermoluminescence dosimeters to photon and electron beams

1994
Abstract In order to obtain the energy response of thermoluminescence dosimeters for gamma photon ray energies from 10 keV to 10 MeV and for electron energies between 5 and 12 MeV, a theoretical and experimental study was made on LiF-7 rods. The experimental data, normalized to 60 Co gamma ray response are compared with different cavity theories. This information provides knowledge of the behaviour of the dosimeters when using different energies and radiation qualities and enables calibration of the system relative to 60 Co gammas.
