Response of capsicum (Capsicum annum var. grossum) to different levels of N and K fertigation under Assam conditions

2014
Fertigation experiments were conducted to study the response of capsicum, var. California Wonder to different levels of N & K fertilizers applied as fertigation. Among different fertigation treatments 100% recommended dose of N & K recorded the highest vegetative growth, yield attributes and marketable fruit yield of capsicum compared to 75% and 50% levels of fertigation and significantly superior to conventional fertilization (control). In regard to qualitative characters, the maximum pericarp thickness was recorded by 100% fertigation, while 50% fertigation recorded the highest ascorbic acid content. Study on cost economics revealed that fertigation with 100% recommended dose of N & K through fertigation produced the highest cost benefit ratio of 1: 6.86. It is concluded from the study that drip fulfillment at 100% evaporation replenishment with 100% supplementation of recommended dose N and K @ 120: 60 kg/ha was found to be beneficial for higher growth, yield, quality and economics for commercial production of capsicum under the agro-climatic conditions of Jorhat (Assam).
