RELIABILITY ANALYSIS OF DIGITAL PROTECTION

Technique to quantitatively analyze the reliability of digital protection was proposed. The paper defines the protection availability and protection economical index. They can quantitatively evaluate the relay's reliability. The failure model of hardware/software and seven states space of digital protection equipment are set up. The analysis method is used to calculate the proposed two parameters. An application in a practical protective production was given to demo the proposed techniques. Meanwhile, by the variable parameters method, the product's reliability sensitivity was analyzed to find the critical factors in reliability. The result shows that the technique is applicable to quantitatively evaluate the reliability of digital protection.
