THE sruw OF NON-SHIELD HEAD FOR PEHPENDICUI,AR RECORDING

We simulated PW50 and microtrack-profile of several yoke type heads like figure 1 by finit element method in the perpendicular recording condition. The result says that spatial resolution of a yoke type head is much coarser than a shield type one especially under the condition of perpendicular recording. This is because the contribution of the parts except for around gap area to the resolution is much larger. This result can be also introduced by reciprocal theorem. In the other hand, ‘dual stripe GMR’with two free layers like dual strip MR[2] indicated good spatial resolution in the simulation result by micromagnetics. In the reference paper[2], dual stripe AMR was used with shield but PW50 and effective magnetic track width of dual stripe GMR without shield is applicable to the higher ereal density than 5OOGbpsi under some conditions.
