What kind of information can we expect from combined direct and indirect lattice imaging in an electron microscope

1990
Abstract Front views of multilayers show moire fringes and it is well known that these can give information on lattices. If one can also obtain high-resolution images (direct lattice imaging), a careful study and comparison of the combined images can give valuable information on the relationship between the different components of the multilayer. We show here an example of a Au/Co/Au multilayer where the fit between the cobalt layer and the gold layer is studied.
