La cobertura mediática de los eventos españoles de videojuegos en la prensa digital especializada

2021
Based on the fact that video game fairs reflect the current gamer culture, this research aims to study the informational treatment received by the Spanish video game event Madrid Games Week in the Spanish specialized digital press. To do this, a descriptive and comparative research is committed based on the analysis of quantitative content of the journalistic texts published by the Meristation, Vandal, Hobby Consolas and IGN Espana websites during the course of said event from 2013 to 2019. Considering factors such as the subject, the journalistic genre and aspects of online journalism -multimediality, immediacy and hyperlinks-, we have been able to establish a profile of what the typical publication is like when reporting on this event. The conclusions show that, although media coverage has evolved differently, who organizes the fair and the category of games continue to be decisive in journalistic work.
