Autonomia percebida pelo enfermeiro obstetra na sala de parto

Objective: To understand of autonomy of the Obstetric Nurses in normal birth care in a public maternity. Methods: This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research, in which seven obstetric nurses who worked in the birth room at the obstetric center of the hospital participated. Data collection took place with the consent of the participants by signing the informed consent TCLE form, through semi-structured interviews, followed by transcription and Bardin Content analysis. Results: It was evidenced that the ON began to fully assume the normal birth, as a legitimate identity of the professional exercise, rescuing their figure and importance in the birth assistance. In addition to the implementation of the parturient's electronic medical record (admission until discharge), they were granted the right to sign the Hospitalization Authorization (AIH), adoption and institutionalization of the partogram, reduction of unnecessary interventionist practices and adoption of good practices, in the birth room. Conclusion: It was evidenced in the multiprofessional team the presence of the nurse with autonomy, perceiving herself as a transforming agent in humanized care, having fundamental importance in changing paradigms and qualification of care in obstetrics, being their presence in front of health services with focus on Humanized Birth Centers.
