Acquired Deformities of the Foot and Ankle
2003
This chapter will consider soft-tissue and structural foot and ankle deformity. Whilst the most common causes by far are trauma and degenerative joint disease, these topics will be dealt with elsewhere. For convenience and in an effort to apply a systematic approach, the subject will be divided into hindfoot, midfoot and forefoot (Table 18.1). It should be emphasised that many foot and ankle conditions do inter-relate and should not be thought of in isolation when treatment strategies are being planned.
