Évaluation de l’efficacité d’un laser de basse énergie dans le traitement des mucites radio-induites, versus traitement conventionnel, chez des patients traités pour un carcinome indifférencié du nasopharynx

2015
The objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a low-energy laser on radio-induced mucositis in patients treated with high-dose radiotherapy for undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Method: It is a prospective descriptive study, involving 22 patients, who were divided into two groups: group 1 received a decision in conventional therapy, group 2 received laser treatment, patients were illuminated by two combined wavelengths (660 nm and 808 nm with a power of 150 mW), 4 times per week throughout the radiotherapy. The evaluation criteria concerned the grade of oral mucositis according to the scale of toxicity of WHO, and the time of its appearance. The intensity of pain is encrypted each week on a visual analogue scale (VAS). Results: In group 1 all patients had mucositis grade 3 or 4. In the laser group, 7 patients had mucositis grade 2 and 1 patient had grade 3 mucositis. At the end of radiotherapy S. Debache (*) · S.
