Some observations on the mechanism of bone formation under calcium phosphate bioceramics

1987
Abstract Two ceramics of tricalcium phosphate were implanted subperiosteally into the rat mandible. Their effects, up to 26 weeks, on host bone were studied using standard histological techniques. Histological confirmation of their osteoconductive potential is presented and possible mechanisms of their modes of action are discussed.
