This article discloses the importance of keeping al ive and recognized the memories about the learning of Portuguese Language by a Mozambiquean group, citizens of Maputo, whose did not ha ve this language as maternal language, in the direction of the reflection concerning the relation between language and citizenship’s construction. Fr om data collection of verbal register and from the treatment given to the m, we got results that show the ethnic-cultural diversity inside Mozambiqu e’s capital. Moreover, the set of the interviews also indicated that the f amiliar relations and the relations established inside school institution are strong for the insertion of these citizens in the Lusophone world, after Mozambique’s Independence
