Una sala come piace a te. Front-end evaluation per la realizzazione di una nuova proposta espositiva

A room as you like. Front-end evaluation to plan a new exhibit. An interdisciplinary front-end evaluation has been realized (with a biological, geological, paleontological, demo-ethnoanthropological and commercial approach) as instrument for the elaboration of an incisive exhibit proposal for the Shell Collection of Prof. Pietro Parenzan. A total of 1246 students (8-18 years old) and 195 adults (> 18 years old) have been asked to fill in a questionnaire. This allowed us to study the interest and knowledge of the Public who visits the Marine Biology Museum “Pietro Parenzan”, but also of the potential Public, on Malacology, so to design a future exhibit (the “Mollusks Room”) according to the results. The interviewees showed great interest on the biology of the Mollusks and the use of shells by different human populations. The survey, however, highlighted many knowledge gaps, such as, for example, the process of shell formation.
