The Rise of Social Organizations and Governance Cooperative Networks in Singapore

2004
The political culture and ideology in Singapore has been changing, which is reflected and strengthened by the formulation of Singapore 21 Vision and becomes the indispensable structural factor for the rise of its social organizations. As an active reaction to the change of political system, cooperative organizations try to weaken their traditional roles and seek for their new legitimacy, while new developing organizations utilize this good opportunities and wide space in making efforts to develop themselves. The rise of social organizations offers a new path to help Singapore redefine the relation between state and society in its steady process of democratization that seems slow.
