The title molecules, C 6 H 4 N 6 O 4 .2C 3 H 7 NO, lie on a center of inversion. One N atom of the ring is hydrogen bonded to the O atom of the dimethylformamide (DMF) solvate molecule [N-H...O = 2.699 (4) A]. The nitro group is tilted by 4.11 (18)° with respect to the imidazole ring.
