Ultrasonic Characterization of Attenuative Materials by Means of a Correlator System

1991
The new demands of material performance, such as higher strength per weight and high operating temperatures, have caused an increase in the use of polymers and composites in daily engineering practices. When these materials are nondestructively evaluated by means of ultrasound, a problem that frequently occurs is the high attenuation or the absorption of the energy of the sound wave by the material being tested.
