Resveratrol oligomers from the stem bark of Dryobalanops aromatica

Abstract Our phytochemical investigation on the stem bark of Dryobalanops aromatica has resulted in the isolation of nine resveratrol oligomers and one bergenin. The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic data evidence and comparison with literature. The presence of malaysianol A and flexuasol A in the Dipterocarpaceae family is reported for the first time by this work. Furthermore, vaticanol C is characterized for the first time from the genus Dryobalanops . The chemotaxonomic importance of these compounds is also summarized.
