A CASE REPORT OF PRIMARY OMENTAL LEIOMYOBLASTOMA

1990
We report a case of primary omental leiomyoblastoma, together with a review of domestic cases of malignant omental tumors arising in the smooth muscle. The case is a 76-year-old female who had visited a near practitioner for abdominal distention and was pointed out to have an abdominal tumor of infant's head size. On admission to our hospital, a movable hard mass with smooth surface could be palpated. Abdominal ultrasonography and CT revealed a giant tumor with irregular margine, comprising of the cystic for the most part and partialy solid mass. Abdominal angiography showed a tumor shadow fed by the right omental artery of stomach, of which every branch was pressed and extended. Under a suspicion of primary malignant tumor arising in the omentum, operation was performed. During operation the tumor of man's head size was found between anterior and posterior lobes of the omentum, and the tumor was resected with the stomach and transverse colon as a lump. Histologically it was a primary omental leiomyoblastoma. The patient died of intraperitoneal recurrence 4 years and 3 months after surgery.
