The effectiveness of ammonia laurate as a stabilizer to radiation vulcanization of natural rubber latex

2010
This research concerned with the ability of ammonia laurate as a stabilizer to boost up and maintain mechanical stability of Radiation Vulcanization Natural Rubber Latex (RVNRL). The RVNRL showed instability against mechanical destabilization agent upon storage. In this experiment, Ammonia Laurate was added at a range of 0.02 to 0.10 p hr into stocks of RVNRL and mechanical stability of RVNRL was determined by using Mechanical Stability Time test 3 times a week for 1 month. The result showed that ammonia laurate was able to boost up and maintain mechanical stability time of RVNRL. The stability of RVNRL increased with the increasing amount of ammonium laurate added to the latex. Ammonium laurate is found to be effective as a stabilizer to RVNRL. (author)
