Fault Diagnosis for Satellite Attitude Control System with Using Extended Kalman Filter

2019
This paper investigates the fault diagnosis problem for satellite attitude control system with using extended Kalman filter (EKF). A fault diagnosis scheme with using two EKFs based on analytical redundancy is proposed for satellite system fault diagnosis. First, the kinematics model and dynamics model of satellite attitude control is given. Then, two extended Kalman filters is designed to estimate the attitude information. Furthermore, with using the attitude estimates provided by the EKFs, a fault detection and isolation scheme is designed to diagnose faults of the system. The main contribution of this paper lies in that the proposed method not only considers the faults in the sensors (gyroscopes and star sensor) but also can deal with those in the actuators. Finally, numerical simulations of a satellite attitude control system are performed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed fault diagnosis scheme.
