Performance of Kharif Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) under Integrated Nutrient Management System

2007
An experiment was conducted during rainy seasons (Kharif 2003 and 2004) to study the influence of organics, inorganics and bioinoculants on the performance of Kharif sorghum. Application of fertilizers levels at 100% RDF enhanced yield attributes viz. length of earhead, number of grains per earhead, grain weight of per earhead, test weight, harvest index, yield of sorghum and economics over 75% and 50% RDF. Grain yield with 100% RDF increased at 14.56% and 30.64% over 75% RDF and 50% RDF respectively while dry fodder increased at 10.97% and 20.69%. Application of 10 tonnes FYM/ha significantly increased length of earhead, number of grains per earhead, grain weight of per earhead, test weight, harvest index, yields of sorghum and economics over no FYM. Inoculation of PSB, Azospirillum separately and in combination increased grain yields by 3 to 7%. PSB + Azospirillum combination was significantly superior.
