Purple pigment, preparation thereof and coloring method

PURPOSE: To provide a novel purple pigment which is based on a finely dispersed glass, e.g. particularly a glass frit having a coating contg. colloidal gold, and has high glossiness and excellent technical properties in use regarding the compatibility in a ceramic substrate to be decorated. CONSTITUTION: A coating of this pigment comprises: the pigment as a major component; colloidal gold in an amt. of 0.05 to 5 wt.% based on the pigment; an optional color-modifying metal (s) selected from the group consisting of Ag, Cu, Co, Ni, Sn, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, and Pt, the color modifying metal being used in a total quantity below that of the gold. The coating is present directly on the surface of glass frits having an average particle diameter (D50 value) of 0.5 to 50 μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
