Pseudorabies virus infection in piglets accompanying with the lesion of bilateral encephalomalacia.
1985
A disease syndrome of piglets showing nervous signs, such as incoordination, circling and coma with muscular tremors, occurred on a swinery in Japan. In the herd where the syndrome occurred, an abnormal birth had been observed in twenty of 67 sows. The central nervous system lesions of 2 piglets examined were characterized by acute nonsuppurative meningoencephalitis and bilateral encephalomalacia. Pseudorabies virus was isolated from the cerebrum of one piglet.
