Enhanced shaly sand reservoir characterization

A new 3D multicomponent induction wireline instrument measures horizontal and vertical resistivities, R h and R v . Incorporating these data in an enhanced shaly sand tensor resistivity petrophysical analysis resulted in approximately 20% more calculated gas-in-place (GIP) than from methods used previously. Petrophysical analysis results agreed well with conventional core analysis and production well test data.
