Mode matching analysis of combined circular and coaxial structures loaded with dielectrics

1991
The formulation described by Tun et al. (1987) for circular guides is extended to include interaction with coaxial waveguides placed in line with the circular guides. Both types of waveguides may either be partially or fully loaded with dielectrics. For loaded waveguides the intrinsic eigenmodes of the cross-sections are evaluated prior to mode matching. The analysis has been confined to structures excited by modes with unity azimuthal index such as the dominant TE/sub 11/ mode of the circular guide. However, the formulation is valid for all indices. As the technique is implemented in a general way, the same software can be used to analyse components such as corrugated horns with ring-loaded slots or arbitrarily shaped slots (V shaped), coaxial couplers, multiband feeds, closely spaced feed-subreflector assemblies, etc. >
