The Loya Jirga:A Traditional and Social Organization in Tackling National Issues in Afghanistan

Being an ancient,traditional and social organization made up by patriarchs and religious leaders of Pathan,The Loya Jirga has played an important role in settling conflicts among different tribes and people of different nationality groups ever since its establish-ment.The Loya Jirga has made some contributions in tackling security and stability issues of the country.The Loya Jirga has become a democratic symbol in the postwar reconstruction of the country as well.But problems,such as illiteracy and organizational laxity,etc.,a-mong the chief members,have become the hindrance for the organization to play a more important role in national affairs in Afghanistan.
