Created in 1970, thanks to the generosity of the Mexican artist settled down in Benalmadena Felipe Orlando, this museum has characterized by the singularity and importance of its collection of pre-Columbian art, without a doubt one of most significant in this field. In the present article we analyze the restructuring and reform carried out from 2002-2005, with the aim of adapting the building to the current museum requirements. This is intended to improve the “physical accessibility”: to facilitate them visits to the public, removing physical barriers, expansion of the exhibition rooms, access and route rationalization, modernization of facilities and services, etc. Furthermore, since 2005 we have been working on improving what we call “accessibility of education and culture” as one of the main lines of action that takes place in all areas of activities of a museum is the educational programs and workshops.
