Straight Substituted phenyl hydroxamic acids and their use

Phenyl hydroxamic acids having the formula:- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein X is HR, oxygen, sulfur, or a single bond, and Y is NR, oxygen, sulfur, or a single bond, where R can be hydrogen or lower alkyl, g can be 1 or 2, and with the proviso that at least one of X and Y is other than a single bond; Z is aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl; R1 is hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, lower alkenyl or aryl; R2 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, aroyl or acyl; m is 0 to 4 can atoms; and, n is 0 to 4 carbon atoms, are inhibitors of arachidonic acid 5-lipoxygenase and are therefore useful as antiallergy agents and antipsoriatics.
