Fluidized electrode operation in a diaphragmless electrolyzer in depolarizer reduction at the limiting diffusion current

1988
The authors present a theoretical analysis for estimating the effects of contact resistance on electrolyzer operation. The resistivity of the oxide layer (PbO/sub 2/ or RuO/sub 2/) on the anode is taken as negligible (the resistivity of lead dioxide for example is 10/sup -6/ Omega x m, which is much less than the characteristic resistivities of the solution and the fluidized-electrode phase). Also this resistance has no effect on the relation between the current consumed in the reaction and the short-circuit current, as it only increases the electrolyzer voltage.
