Macroscopic Evidence of Ectopic Pregnancy Associated With Mechanical Tubal Obstruction

2010
At laparoscopy, a bleeding ectopic pregnancy in the mid-ampullary portion of the left fallopian tube was identified. The tube was incarcerated inside a post-surgical firm adhesion between the upper ovarian pole and the anterior pelvic wall. This resulted in a mechanical obstruction of the tubal lumen, which could explain the pathogenesis of this ectopic pregnancy in a multiparous woman with a history of apparently normal tubal function and patency.
