COMPUTATION OF SHIP NEAR WAKE BY SOLVING VORTICITY TRANSPORT EQUATION

Numerical predictions of ship near wake are attempted for two hull forms where the vorticity transport equation is solved on the body-fitted coordinates by the time-marching method. The boundary layer equation is invokes to provide the upstream boundary values of the vorticity distribution. According to the authors the results give rather goof agreement with measurement and the method can be accepted as a near wake prediction method.
