Enquête Paquid : prévalence de l'hypothyroïdie infra-clinique et relation avec une symptomatologie dépressive chez le sujet âgé « normal

An epidemiological survey is in progress in south-west France to identify risk factors for dementia in subjects over 65 years. A subproject is devoted to assessment of hypothyroidism because of its relationship with mood and cognitive disorders. TSH levels are already available in 276 subjects (109 men and 167 women) ; they appear to be high (≥ 4.5 microU/ml) in 8 % of these subjects and are significantly related to depressive symptoms.
