Efficacy of combination of multiple drugs in the management of hypertension

2005
Objective To examine a proper treatment for hypertension in the patients with hypertension. Methods In this study,80 patients with hypertension were randomized into three arms of antihypertensive treatment: group A and group B treated with only one drug, group C treated with two drugs. At the same time, we tested the levels of GFR, renal function, liver function, glucose, etc. Results Eight weeks later, both SBP and DBP were decreased significantly in all of the patients(P0. 05). The blood pressure was lower in the patients with two drugs than with only one drug. The renal functions of the patients with two drugs grown were better than those with only one drug( P 0. 05). And the level of GFR was increased in the patients with two drugs. Conclusion Treatment of hypertension by combining ACEI and CCB is superior to the treatment alone, and the treatment can postpone the progression of the organ.
