Detection and analysis of molecular epidemiology in vancomycin-resistant enterococci

Objective To study the prevalence of vancomycin-resistant enterococci(VRE) in hospital we detected and analyzed the molecular epidemiology of 11 VRE.Methods van gene were detected with multiplex PCR and DNA sequencing.Pulsed field gel electrophoresis(PFGE) was used to analyze the similarities of 11 VRE.Results 1 VanA,4 VanB,5 VanC_1,1 VanC_2 were detected and the phenotypes confirm to the genotypes;No.2 and No.5 enterococcus showed the same DNA bands.Others showed more than 5 different DNA bands.Conclusion It is important for clinical laboratory to detect VRE with right methods to prevent VRE infection and prevalence.No clonal outbreak happened among 11 VRE.
