Regard to sequential hospitalizationsThe purpose of this paper is to render our findings –based on our own clinical experience essentially focussed on the care of psychotic patients- about the effect of full-time pre-programmed hospitalizations in a classical structure on both patients and medical staff. We will see that such hospitalizations provide our patients with temporal dimensions scheduled activities, help them to set themselves back as subjects by means of mutual-consented-contracts and modify their relation to the institution. As such hospitalizations combine with all the other branches of our sector, putting them into practice also questions the institutional functioning of hospitals. It also brings in the idea of ‘continuity’ in the care of patients inside hospitals. The details and limits of such a practice will then be fully discussed.
